How to Apply

Avis Foundation recommends reviewing the following guidelines or contacting us to determine if the project is a good fit before applying.

Letter of Inquiry

All grant applicants are required to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI).

Requirements:

  • Letter should not exceed three (3) pages in length.

  • Send via mail (1909 S. Main St., Upland, IN 46989), email (marty.songer@avisfoundationinc.org) or submit online by March 1.

  • Submitted on organization’s letterhead.

  • Signed by the chief executive officer of the organization.

Grant proposals

If your LOI is approved, grant seekers will be required to submit a full grant proposal following grant guidelines by July 31.

Characteristics of a successful proposal:

  • The proposal aligns closely with one or more of the Foundation’s stated priorities and with the applicant organization’s strategic plan.

  • The proposal presents a compelling case by thoughtfully and succinctly addressing each of the narrative sections listed. 

  • The proposal is leveraged to engage other donors through a match or challenge. 

  • The proposed grant will support compelling outcomes and state clear and measurable results that can be achieved in one to three (1–3) years.
